Srijan 2009 began with an inaugural ceremony in the evening of 18th March. The chief guest Mr. Ajay Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Dhanbad declared the three day techno-management-cum-cultural fest open. That was followed by a hilarious performance by Sri Surendar Sharma, the world famous Hindi “Hasya-Kavi” in his trademark inimitable style.

DAY 1

The first day commenced with Vad Vivad (Debate) competition in cultural category. Pallav Bagla, ISM first year won the debate competition. The eastern vocals, held simultaneously with debate competition, drew a large number of both, the participants and the audience. Many teams from ISMU as well as other colleges participated in the prelims of the Fashion Show held in the evening of day one. Preliminary round of Rockerz, the rock band competition was held after the Fashion Show. A Salsa Workshop was also organised by First Step which participation from a large number of couples.

In Technical Category the day began with Decalcomania (Autocad Designing). It was followed by preliminary round of Manual Robotics. In the evening Strawctures (Structure Designing) kept the students busy. The inaugural ceremony of Petro Gaia also took place simultaneously followed by Papyrus (Paper Presentation) under Minetech. Armageddon (Over-Night Robotics) and Over-Night Programming were held at night. Other events of the day included a Robotics Workshop by Arelabs and Innova (B-Plan Competition).

DAY 2

The Second day took the level to new heights. It began with Petro Panacea (Case Study) and Matlab Prelims both organised simultaneously. A guest lecture by Shell representative in India, John Hoppe was organised in afternoon. The show continued with paper presentation in Bits n Bytes and quizzes in Mineraloid and Electronical. Many students presented an on-the-spot-created paper for the case study held under the name Indica under Mechanika.

The Cultural Category saw some fabulous events such as Just A Minute (Extempore). The Dance Competition (Group and Solo) was held after this. The second preliminary round of Rockerz was followed by a sterling performance by ‘Rudra’, the Vedic metal band from Singapore . The day ended with the grand finale of the Fashion Show. The team from ISMU with the name ‘Let Loose’ won the first prize.


DAY 3

The third and the final day began with the workshop on ‘Glider Making’. The workshop was followed by Garuda (Glider Making Contest). A workshop in Ethical hacking was conducted by internationally recognized ethical hacker Ankit Fadia. This was followed by a competition Loze ‘em Out (Dismantling and Re-assembling bicycle). Electronics hosted Open Hardware and Web Designing competition under Bits n Bytes.

In Management events Cerebrus (Case Study) and Equity Bazar took place. Simultaneously, a guest lecture under the name ‘Dabbawala’ by the well known Mumbai based entrepreneur Mr. Manish Tripathi was held. Finally at night, the final round of Rockerz was held after Guest Performances by the bands ‘Demonic Resurrection’, the band from Mumbai and ‘Evergreen’, the band from Cochin.The band from Kolkata “Nitric Dreams” emerged as the winner of Rockerz. In between the rock performances, a competition for Mr. and Ms. Srijan ’09 was held. The winners were Abhishek Baghele, final year from ISMU and Deepika from St. Xavier’s, Ranchi.

Throughout the fest, art exhibition by Puneet Verma, a third year student from ISMU won the hearts of all viewers. Besides, a sand art sculpture by world famoussand artist Mr. Sudarshan Patnaik was put on display throughout the fest. A book exhibition carried out simultaneously throughout the event in ISM Library attracted many eager readers. Another main attraction that attracted a huge participation from gaming enthusiasts around the country was the round-the-clock gaming event, Eclipse. Various popular games such as AOE, DOTA, NFS, CS and FIFA formed the gaming routine. Intense competition was witnessed throughout the course of the event.
